The Carlisle Street Streetscape Concept represents an integrated urban response to what are often competing interests: pedestrian prioritisation, traffic management and parking, contemporary water management and design.

It successfully combines these into a cohesive and legible outcome that delivers a clear plan in an increasingly dense urban environment yet with an improving local social economy. It addresses the key issues of sustainable design, being social, environmental and economic factors through a design lens, and in a localised and site-specific way it reinforces the City of Port Phillip’s vision for the community:

  • Engaged,

  • Healthy,

  • Resilient,

  • Vibrant.

The concept for the precinct focuses on spatial quality, thermal comfort, accessibility, water capture and management, and prioritisation of the pedestrian and trade over provision for the car.
