An Evening with Dr David Jones and Uncle Bryon Powell

REALMstudios had the pleasure to host with @groundedstudiosdesign and evening with Dr David Jones and Uncle Bryon Powell earlier this month. The night held an important discussion about how First Nations values can become embedded into the built environment as a primary consideration and design driver raises questions that challenge us all in the design of the built environment.

David and Uncle’s experiences with Wadawurrung TOAC's Paleert Tjaara Dja/Healthy Country Plan and how First Nations intentions for Country intersect with the state planning framework give important insights into the serious limitations of the planning system to further First Nations interests, and the amount of work that it takes TO's to operate within this framework.

A big thank you to David and Uncle Bryon Powell for coming to the studio to talk about it, and to the wonderful crowd who joined us for the yarn. Check out Dr David Jones’ new book 'Planning for Urban Country: Taking First Nations Values into Future Urban Designs.'
