C6 Charles St Unanimously Approved!
REALMstudios are very excited to be part of the team delivering the world’s tallest hybrid timber tower and Western Australia’s first carbon negative building that was unanimously approved at JDAP last week.
Working closely with Grange Developments and architects Fraser & Partners we pioneered an integrative multivalent response. At the outset, C6 takes a regenerative position; drawing upon pre-settlement landscapes and integrating productive gardens, to challenge preconceptions of high-density liveability.
Our aspiration with C6 is to shift the focus towards a more climate-conscious approach to our urban environment, rooted in science, landscape and place. Through optimising built-form topographies the landscaped areas are equivalent in size to over 150% of the site area which in turn provides a home for over 180 native and productive trees serviced by water captured and recycled on site. Integrated public space is gifted back to the community and hosts playscapes, discovery zones, public art, food production and F&B offerings.
With almost 3,500 sqm of planted landscape comprising a hybridised interpretation of Banksia woodlands and freshwater spring ecologies once characteristic of the landscape, plus 1600sqm+ of communal wellness amenity and rooftop space, C6 represents a paradigm shift in high-density residential outcomes.
