Sponge City strategies in Kunshan

In 2017 REALMstudios led the development of Kunshan’s Demonstration Park, a 10-hectare testing ground for water management and treatment systems aimed at promoting health and well-being in a highly-urbanised context.

This year the City of Kunshan has been selected as one of 25 demonstration cities across China to further explore, develop and promote sponge city practices as part of China’s Sponge City Program; an ongoing initiative exploring innovative and nature-based solutions to urban water management issues facing flood prone urban areas. The Demonstration Park is one of many case study projects contributing research to the next iteration of innovative water management solutions in Kunshan.
